Mr. Jama is an Executive Director at HPS Investment Partners. Prior to joining HPS in 2024, Mr. Jama was a Senior Director at Guardian Life Insurance in the HY and Leveraged Loan group. Prior to Guardian, Mr. Jama was responsible for energy research at Millennium Management and was co-founder of an energy hedge fund at UNIS Management. Mr. Jama also specialized in energy-sector equity, distressed debt, high yield and leveraged loans at Owl Creek Asset Management, GSO Capital Partners, Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (now BlackRock), and Fitch Ratings. Mr. Jama began his career as an engineer at Universal Oil Products. Mr. Jama is a CFA charterholder, holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
